U Software Developer
The Opportunity
StayClassy develops web-based fundraising software used by thousands of Nonprofit organizations across the globe. We pride ourselves on two things 1) a mind-bogglingly simple & elegant UX and, 2) helping make the world a better place with our thousands of socially-minded clients.
We are looking for an experienced back-end software developer to join our growing team of passionate self-motivated individuals who want to make a difference. Our engineers are involved in the complete development cycle from concept to launch to maintenance. You will work hand in hand with other developers as well as with test, product management and the customer support team.
You need to be very good friends with PHP & MySQL, and have the desire to take ownership of your work. We work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment but most importantly with fun like-minded people who love what they do.
Requirements (what it will take for you to get in the door):
- BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of PHP 5, HTML, CSS, JSON and XML
- Experience building large-scale server applications
- A love for MySQL... a deep love. Experience with MySQL 5 a must
- Comfortable with both object oriented and procedural programming methodologies.
- nowledge of stored procedures, triggers, indexes, table normalization and database design
- Experience with AJAX based websites, JavaScript and jQuery.
- Comfortable with a fast paced office environment, tight deadlines, and an office of all young people.
- A passion for making this world a better place.
Pluses:
- Ability to build simple, efficient systems that are designed to scale
- Previous internship experience at a high tech company (preferably a startup).
- Experience with the Zend Framework preferable.
- Experience working with e-commerce solutions.
- Interest & knowledge of search engines or social networks.
- Active contributor to open source software.

U Quality Assurance Engineer ⋅ Internship
The Opportunity:
StayClassy develops web-based fundraising software used by thousands of Nonprofit organizations across the globe. We pride ourselves on two things 1) a mind-bogglingly simple & elegant UX and, 2) helping make the world a better place with our thousands of socially-minded clients.
An internship at StayClassy requires at least 12 consecutive weeks of work at our office in San Diego, CA. If you go to school in the San Diego area, we accept applications on a rolling basis. For candidates coming from outside of San Diego, the internship would be from June through August, depending on your school's schedule.
You will receive training and mentorship from one of our senior developers, and have the opportunity to contribute and work on real features that get used by millions of people, and thousands of organizations. We almost never hire full-time positions that did not go through our internship program; so, if you'd like to be considered for a full-time position when you graduate, this internship is for you!
We need someone who will dive into the weeds and strive to continually improve the product. If you are detail oriented, enjoy breaking stuff and want the opportunity to obtain a tremendous amount of hands-on experience in an extremely fun environment, then this internship is for you.
Requirements (what it will take for you to get in the door):
- BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Majoring in Computer Science or related field.
- Understanding of web development technologies including PHP 5, AJAX, HTML, CSS, JAVAScript and JQuery.
- Ability to create and execute test plans and test cases.
- Experience with cross browser testing, including mobile browsers.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work closely with other engineers, product managers and customer support.
- Comfortable with a fast paced office environment, tight deadlines, and an office of all young people.
- A passion for making this world a better place.
Pluses:
- Previous internship experience at a high tech company (preferably a startup).
- Experience developing test automation using open source tools or scripting languages.
- Experience with the Zend Framework preferable.
- Experience working with e-commerce solutions.
- Interest & knowledge of search engines or social networks.
- Active contributor to open source software.
Additional:
- Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week while in school. 30 hours minimum during Summer Months (June through August).
- Compensation: College credit available --OR-- Hourly compensation.

U Customer Service ⋅ Internship
The Opportunity:

We pride ourselves on three things 1) a mind-bogglingly simple & elegant fundraising platform, 2) providing the best possible customer service to our clients, 3) helping make the world a better place with our thousands of socially-minded clients.
Our company is made up of go-getters looking to reinvent the nonprofit industry. Our culture is young, vibrant, fast-paced and fun. We are looking for an enthusiastic customer service representative to help our small company field day-to-day questions about the website's products and tools.
An internship at StayClassy requires at least 12 consecutive weeks of work at our office in San Diego, CA. If you go to school in the San Diego area, we accept applications on a rolling basis. This internship is great for students who are looking to enter into a business field, especially those looking to engage in small, fast-paced companies with lots of potential for growth and knowledge.
Requirements (what it will take for you to get in the door):
- Help current and new clients with day-to-day questions, ranging from minor sales inquiries, questions about the product and helping troubleshoot technical difficulties.
- Organize and mange our customer support online help desk.
- Aid in customer questions and issues pertaining to the Classy Awards, the nations largest philanthropic award show. (classyawards.org)
Pluses:
- Some customer service experience is recommended, but not required.
- Excellent communication skills are a MUST.
- A passion for driving community engagement.
- General computer skills & ability to use, Microsoft Excel, Google docs, etc.
- Be organized and detail-oriented enough to manage projects with many moving parts.
- Ability to work closely with customer support team, engineers and product managers.
- A passion for innovation, change and thinking outside of the box;
- Comfortable with a fast paced office environment, tight deadlines, and an office of all young people.
- Business, Communication, Marketing major, a plus.
- A passion for making this world a better place.
Additional:
- Hours: Minimum 15 hours per week between the hours of 9 - 6 pm; Monday -- Friday; from April thru September 2012
- Compensation: College credit available --OR-- Hourly compensation.
