Carlsbad 5000 - World's Fastest 5k

Since 1986, thousands of runners and walkers have converged on the seaside village of Carlsbad in early April to enjoy the scenic course or set world records at the Carlsbad 5000. On Sun. April 11, 2010, the race known as the World's Fastest 5k will celebrate its 25th anniversary with over 10,000 participants. For more information, please visit www.carlsbad5000.com.

Health & Fitness Expo

All registered participants can pick up their race number and timing tag at the Registration tent. T-Shirts and Goodie Bags can be picked up after your race at the T-Shirts/ Goodie Bags tent in the Expo. Individual registration is available Saturday and Sunday. There will be no race day registration for teams or groups

Junior Carlsbad

Created just for kids 12 and under, Junior Carlsbad rewards every child with a finisher's medal, t-shirt and goodie bag.

There are events for every age and ability, from the diaper dash and toddler trot to ¼, ½ and 1 mile races.

Carlsbad 5000

Southern California’s favorite 5k celebrates its 25th birthday on April 11, 2010!

The Carlsbad 5000 features a fast and fun seaside course where 16 world records have been set. Both rookie runners and serious speedsters alike enjoy running or walking in one of seven people’s races.

Celebrate after your race with two free beers at the Pizza Port/Imperial Cerveza Beer Garden! At high noon, witness the elite athletes vie for a lucrative prize purse and a new world record.

Awards Ceremony

The Invitational Elite awards ceremony follows the Elite Races at the Finish line. After the race, stick around to see who earned the crown!

Race Directions

  • DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO CARLSBAD: Take I-5 to Carlsbad. Carlsbad is located 40 miles south of Orange County and 40 miles north of San Diego. You can reach race parking by exiting I-5 at the Vista Way(78), Las Flores, Carlsbad Village Drive, or Tamarack Avenue exits and heading west. Follow the signs for "event parking" from each exit.
  • DIRECTIONS TO RACE DAY REGISTRATION: Race Day Registration is near the intersection of Harding St. and Carlsbad Village Drive.
  • DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE START LINE: The race starting line is located at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Grand Avenue (2 blocks west of I-5 and one block north of Carlsbad Village Drive. Please follow the signs from the Race Day Registration area on Harding Street to the race starting line.
  • DIRECTIONS TO THE EXPO: Take I-5 to Carlsbad Village Drive, exit west. The Expo is on Roosevelt.

Parking

Street parking is available throughout the Village of Carlsbad. We encourage participants to carpool and use the Tamarack, Las Flores, and Vista Way exits.

In addition to street parking, there are also the following lots:

  • There is a large parking lot on State Street just north of Grand Avenue.
  • There is parking available within the Village Faire shopping center, just across the train tracks on Carlsbad Village Dr.
