L.A. Works
L.A. Works is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer action center that empowers
Angelenos to address pressing social issues through volunteerism and community
collaborations.
In our 20 years, L.A. Works has grown to 25,000 registered, active volunteers
who have contributed over a million volunteer hours of service to thousands of
nonprofits in the Los Angeles community. At the heart of our organization are
our volunteer leaders who manage more than 90 opportunities each month at
our nonprofit partners’ sites – so anyone can make a difference in L.A., regardless
of skill-set, interest, or schedule. Opportunities include conserving natural
environments, serving meals to the homeless, offering companionship to seniors,
and reading to children (to name just a few!).
L.A. Works also manages thousands of volunteers in revitalizing and beautifying
schools, nonprofit facilities, and parks the community at annual signature days of
service, including: Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Earth Day of Service, 9/
11 Day, and L.A. Works Day of Service. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to
connect to longer-term volunteer opportunities with our nonprofit partners. L.A.
Works will also be called upon by state and local entities in the event of a natural
disaster or emergency to connect the spontaneous volunteers to the social services
that need them the most.
