Wounded Warrior Homes, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization which will provide transitional housing to single service members who are being medically discharged with Traumatic Brain Injury. We focus on single service members who lack a support system or who's families are not located near a VA Hospital for continued rehabilitation care.
Over 60% of wounded service members suffer from “blast effects” or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Of these troops, 20% will require prolonged or lifetime care. According to a Department of Defense Report, the Military Health System has recorded 233,425 patients who have been diagnosed with a TBI between 2000-12/31/11.
A home is one of the simplest, yet most essential items in our lives. It is a comfort and a hideaway at the end of a long day – a place to call your own, a sign of independence. For the men and women who serve our country who have Traumatic Brain Injury, the independence we so easily take for granted is just outside of their reach. Wounded Warrior Homes, Inc., by providing homes for these brave men and women, can help them begin a new life once out of the hospital programs and nursing homes. They can then afford to stay close to the doctors and health facilities they need to continue their treatment and better their lives.
