The EE Art Contest · Entry Conditions
How the contest works.In order to enter the Elemental Experience art contest, and display your artwork at the festival in front of 5,000+ attendees, you must first be selected by Stay Classy through a simple application process. 40 local artists from all over San Diego will be selected to participate. If selected, artists will be asked to create an original piece of art that caters to the event theme: one of the four elements, earth, wind, fire, water. Each piece will be displayed live at the May 2nd event, and attendees will have the chance to vote (live) on the piece that best represents the festival this year. The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000. All art pieces will then be donated to the Stay Classy Foundation to use at auctions throughout 2009 to raise additional funds for their Campaign for Abandoned Youth.
Who can enter? The application process is open to anyone. A portfolio (or photos of work) must be submitted with application. Artwork must have been executed and owned by the artist whose name appears on the entry form. Artwork must be original. Group work (done by two or more) is permitted.
What medium do i have to use for the themed piece?Any. It’s that simple; the more creative the better.
Is there a prize?Yes. Your themed artwork created before the event will be "judged" by the attendees of the festival through a live voting process. The artists with the most votes wins, and will be presented with a check for $1,000 at the festival.
Sounds great, is there a fee? There is no fee for submitting an application and portfolio; however, if chosen to participate in the contest, and display your art at the ART Village, a $50 fee will apply. (includes 2 tickets to the event)
If I’m selected to display at the event, can i sell my art?Yes! You will have a 10 ft x 10 ft space to display, sell and promote and sellyour artwork at the event.

When and how will i know if i am one of the 40 artists selected?You will be notified by email on April 13th, you will have 24 hours to accept the nomination. By April 22, 2009 you will need to have submitted the $50 contest fee.
