Pedal for Heroes USA is an organization that started in 2011 to serve veterans, support military families and honor the heroes who have lost their lives post September 11. The organization builds awareness of veteran issues and creates events to support local veterans’ organizations. Pedal for Heroes is an annual indoor fundraising event that honors the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Participants ride, walk, jog, swim, or row one minute for every Ohio life lost in the Middle East since September 11, 2001. The Kent State University Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be hosting this event on February 23, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Check-in for the event begins at noon. Tickets can be bought with donations of $25 for one hour of SPINNING, walking/jogging, swimming, stationary cycling, rowing, or using an elliptical. Riders may participate as an individual or form teams and obtain sponsors to make additional contributions for their participation. All funds raised will be donated to the Freedom House, which supports homeless veterans in our community in their efforts to achieve greater self-sufficiency.
