Hi, I’m Maria Menounos! Most of you know me as a host for EXTRA, but I’m also an advocate for women and girls all over the world. And I’m proud to be the first Global Ambassador for Shining Hope for Communities - an innovative, grassroots non-profit organization working to champion gender equality and combat urban poverty in one of the largest slums in Africa: the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.

Summer is quickly winding down and many of us will soon be back in the stores, gearing up for the fall semester at school! Whether you're buying rulers for the little ones or a laptop for your college courses, I'd like to ask you to consider joining me to support students at Shining Hope for Communities' Kibera School for Girls-- the only free school for girls in the Kibera slum.
Every level of giving makes a big impact-- $10 provides a girl with a uniform for a year, while $60 supports a student's complete education for an entire month (books, meals, extracurricular activities, and healthcare)! With your help, we will support the education of young girls, giving them the opportunity to build a pathway out of the slum for themselves and their families.

Maria Menounos, Host of EXTRA, is a nationally recognized reporter, filmmaker, actress, New York Times Best-selling author, philanthropist, and co-founder of AfterbuzzTV: the largest new media platform on the web. Menounos' achievements have set industry milestones.
