Swing a hammer...build a house...create a home...no experience necessary!
Habitat for Humanity's Women Build program promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat houses. Women Build works to nurture, recruit and train women to build and maintain simple, decent, healthy and affordable homes. This year marks 24 years of building new lives for Suffolk County families.
Women of ALL skill and experience levels (none to a lot!) from across Long Island will come together to swing hammers and raise roofs, actively working to eliminate poverty housing in Suffolk County, New York. It takes 225 volunteer builders, about 1600 volunteer hours, and over $100,000 for land and materials to complete the home. Women Build is a safe haven for women to practice and excel, regardless of their experience or skill. Each builder raises funds to secure a volunteer spot for one day of the build.
You can also get involved with Women Build and never swing a hammer! We can use your help with volunteer support on the day of our build and office support anytime!
