Recap of Last Year’s Event:
On May 6th, 2012 the Redbird Baseball team participated in their first head-shaving at Duffy Bass Field. After working with cancer survivor and founder of the Vs. Cancer Foundation, Chase Jones, assistant baseball coach Bill Mohl, has personally experienced the impact supporting cancer research can have on an individual diagnosed with the disease.
In the months leading up to the event, donations were collected through the team’s website in order to reach the team’s goal of $5,000. When the goal was met, the entire Redbird Baseball team including coaches shaved their heads following the game. Local salons were involved in the event as official sponsors and lead the post-game head-shaving event. In the end, the Redbird Baseball team was able to raise $7,000 towards childhood cancer research.
