We are the Durham Branch Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina
Established in 1980, the Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties for 30 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through distribution centers in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, Wilmington, and the Sandhills area (Southern Pines).
In the six counties (Vance, Chatham, Granville, Person, Durham, Orange) served by the Durham branch, over 96,000 individuals are at risk of hunger with 30,000 of them being children. Last year, over 6.2 million pounds of food was distributed to 172 agencies in those counties.
