Friends,
Welcome to the fundraising page for Widowed Village! Widowed Village (Widville) is a program of the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation (SSLF), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
My name is Robin Moore. You may know me as Supa Dupa Fresh, Supa Freshwidow, or some other silly pseudonym. I founded Widowed Village in collaboration with SSLF because they are -- simply -- the BEST organization serving widowed people today. I joined their board earlier this year, and in addition to my time and energy, I give a bunch of money in different ways because I think what we do is unique and valuable. SSLF programs are innovative and inspiring and build community for people who feel they will never "belong" anywhere again. We spread hope, and HOPE MATTERS.
I'd like to ask you to consider making a financial commitment to sustaining the site. SSLF depends on people like YOU and ME to maintain our innovative programs for widowed people in the U.S. and around the world. Widville is a completely free online program and we do not accept any advertising. Making a financial gift or helping us raise money is NEVER required. But your contribution, if you choose to make one, WILL make a difference. It's safe, secure, and easy.
You might give as a "thank you" for support you received on a bad day. You might give to thank the volunteers who built the site. You might choose to give so that we can keep the site alive in coming years, to serve those who haven't even lost their partners yet. For any reason, in any form, your personal gift of any size WILL make a difference.
If you'd like to do more, consider joining our fundraising team to share our good work with your friends and family. It's easy to share your own experiences as a member of our team. Just click "join" above. In a few minutes' time, you'll create your own page which you can share with friends, family, and community members on Facebook, by email, or whatever means work for you.
What types of gift can I make? IF now is the right time for you to give, we want your gift to feel right for YOU.
- You might choose to make a one time gift or a memorial donation of any size.
- You might choose to honor a friend you've made through SSLF programs like Widowed Village, Camp Widow, or Widow Match.
-
You might prefer to just give a bit each month through your credit card. Even a small gift adds up:
- Brown bag your lunch at work one day a month and give the $8 difference to SSLF... in a year, you've made a charitable gift of nearly $100. Not only can you deduct the gift, you can say you support an organization that really matters to you.
- $27 a month is enough, in one year, to fund a "Campership" for a widow or widower to attend Camp Widow. A great opportunity!
SSLF is small, efficient, and growing rapidly. We are the only national organization that creates both in-person and online programs to transform the lives of widowed people, men and women of all ages and parenting statuses, from all religious backgrounds, and without regard to sexual preference or identification.
I appreciate your support and the personal sharing you do in our community already. Without you, we are not a community. Making a gift is NOT a requirement. Folks who give or join the team do NOT receive any special services or preference for participating in this or any other fundraising drive.
But making your personal financial commitment, if it is right for you, is a way for you to give back. You will be supporting our programs and creating the chance for others to benefit from the same connections and sharing you've received from SSLF programs. Your gift will be tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law (but please contact your own financial advisor).
You know the impact our programs have had on you. Imagine what your gift could create for hundreds of people who haven't yet lost their partners and who have no idea our community is here for them.
I am grateful for your involvement in Widowed Village, in whatever way you choose!
Thank you!
Robin
