Hey friends and family,
It's that time of year again that I get the pleasure of sharing with you and others about a very special organization called RAMP. This organization is non-profit and their efforts provide independent living services and advocacy for people with disabilities in Boone County.
Some if not all of you may know about my interest and passion to help kids and family's with disabilities because I too have a very special family member who has challenges. About 14 years ago I was blessed with a little brother named Jonathon (some of you may know him through interaction with camps, since my mother has utilized these awesome camps for kids with special needs). He was diagnosed at an early age with some aspects of autism, mental retardation and bipolar disorder. Through God's amazing grace Jonathon has taught me to see the world through his eyes, one where the world looks at him as not "normal".
With the simplicity of playing with water for no apparent reason, sudden out bursts, competency challenges, neurosensory issues with food and anything to do with everyday living, and just his great passion to expression himself through hugging and kisses; he has taught me that life is more than what I drive, what I do for a living and simply put life is more than just about me and my situation.
Some of you know that I just recently graduated from graduate college and obtained my doctorate in chiropractic. I bring this up because my motive behind obtaining a better education was in the beginning to help better my situation but as I grew to know and understand Jonathon and his unique ways I started to see I could use my bettered educated mind and life for a bigger reason and way, to reach out to children and families like mine.
With everyday being about many pieces to a bigger picture of the puzzle that we all call life, so held true with my little brother. If we didn't have an organization like RAMP to help motivate us and direct us with a better way to help Jonathon's life THRIVE and not just SURVIVE, Jonathon would NOT be where he is today.
Please help me raise funds for RAMP's Boone County Wheel-A-Thon which supports RAMP’s efforts to provide independent living services and advocacy for people with disabilities in Boone County. Your donation will help educate and create awareness about accessibility in the community and support independence for people with disabilities like Jonathon. Even $5 dollars will go a LONG way for this cause and support! As some of you who helped out last year, we raised almost 3 times our goal and this year we are setting our goal even higher! Every little bit or a lot helps this truly extraordinary organization.
