Dear Friends, Family, and Righteous Supporters,
This November, once again, I'm writing a novel. An entire novel, started from scratch, and completed in just one month, as part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Badger and I and some of our bravest and most clever friends make this attempt every year - this will be our fifth go - and it's no exaggeration to say that the good people at the Office of Letters and Light who organize this annual worldwide madness are responsible for some of my most inspired and reckless literary moments.
I'm ploughing ahead with this year's marathon with or without sponsorship, but my five-year NaNo-versary is as good a time as any to try to give back a bit of what it's given me. So here's your chance, not only to use actual cash guilt to push me towards that 50,000-word mark on November 30, but also to help keep this phenomenon afloat for another year.
I'll post updates on my sponsorship page throughout the month of November. This will also add to the guilt, which will in turn add to the all-important word count.
And for helping to support the glorious Office of Letters and Light, some of my most unhinged friends and I will thank you.
UPDATE: This just in. Anybody who donates -- any amount -- gets to set me a challenge to use in my NaNo novel. Want me to incorporate a robot bear? Name one of the characters after you? Have somebody who always wears her pajamas? You got it. It does have to be something I can work into the overall piece (no demands that I write a horror/romance/Western/etc. or that I kill off all the characters in the end, for instance), but other than that, have at it.
