On August 7, 2011, our friend Jacob was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  It took us all by storm and made us truly aware that this could happen to any of us.  Fortunately, Jacob is in remission following a successful surgery and chemotherapy treatment plan.
This is bigger than one man’s story of triumph over cancer.  Many of us have family and friends that have had battles with cancer.  It is our goal to do everything in our power to promote and spread awareness about testicular cancer awareness.  If we get the word our and save only one person, it will all be worth it.
This year there will be around 4,000 men diagnosed with testicular cancer.  Of these 4,000 men between 350 and 400 will lose their battle with cancer.  The disease has been increasing at a rate of 1.5% over the last century, and little is know about why this is happening.
Death rates, however, have been decreasing as of late.  They have been decreasing to the point that between 90% and 95% of men diagnosed are in full remission.  Along with advances in medical technology, the most important variable in surviving is early detection.  This early detection is directly related to educating the population about testicular cancer awareness.
This is where we hope to have a huge impact.  Our group got together and brainstormed ideas about what we could do that would provide us with the best way to grab people’s attention.  Then it hit us.  What would grab more attention than a huge group of scooters rolling across the country?  We were already avid scooter riders and a 31-city stop; nationwide trip would be the perfect avenue to spread testicular cancer awareness to the thousands of people we come into contact with.
We plan to stop in 31 cities from Winchester, VA, Chicago, IL, Tupelo, MS, New Orleans, LA, Amarillo, TX, Lake Tahoe, NV, San Diego, CA, and many towns in between.  We know this wouldn’t be an easy task on a motorcycle, much less a 49cc scooter, but that’s why we are so excited about doing it.  We are confident that with the support of our family, friends, and most importantly members in our community anything is possible.  So please help us reach our goal and save the lives of those who have yet to endure their battle with testicular cancer by raising awareness.  So if you can help our cause please donate what you can, whether it be $20 or $20,000.
