Dear Friends and Family:
Bladder cancer is the fifth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, yet most people know nothing about it.
Last year, over 70,000 people in the US were diagnosed with bladder cancer and over 14,000 people died from it.
You all know that my dearest DAD fought bladder cancer for several years. Even though we thought everything was under "control" it eventually spread to his liver and he died on FAthers DAy of 2004. How fitting, since he was such a Wonderful Father! Some of you may not know that my sister in law, Pat Bridle, died in January of 2010 after a short battle with bladder cancer. She had one episode of blood in the urine, and had extensive surgery, but eventually succumbed to the illness.
On Saturday, May 5, 2012, people across the country will be joining the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network to Walk for Bladder Cancer. The event I am organizing is a one mile walk or a 3- mile run at Firestone Metro Park. We will be using the Willow and Redwing trails. My goal is to raise money for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) and their programs supporting bladder cancer research and education.
I hope you will join me by making a donation, walking or running with me, and helping raise awareness of this disease.
Please consider making a donation right now. The process is fast, easy, and secure, and your donation will make a difference.
