Hey y'all!
As explained here, I'm hoping to complete Script Frenzy with more than the established goal of script-writing in mind. As part of my effort to complete a pilot script for Hero City, I've set the following standards for myself:
1) It has to pass the Bechdel Test, meaning at least two female-identifying characters, who have at least one significant conversation together, about something other than a man or male-identifying character.
2) It has to pass Deggans Rule, meaning at least two person-of-colour characters, who have at least one significant conversation together, about something other than a white (or white-looking) character.
3) It has to have a primary cast of majority female characters, and majority identifiably person-of-colour characters.
These are my goals for the pilot script, but also for every future episode of Hero City that I write.
So those are the reasons I think my project is distinctive, but there's plenty of other reasons to sponsor me - namely, the fact that you're contributing to the wonderfully awesome Office of Light and Letters, which is (in my opinion) one of the driving forces in promoting literacy and self-expression to individuals that might otherwise go unvoiced.
Contributing to them means a lot to me, and means a lot more to the people that rely on projects like the Young Writers Program, Script Frenzy, and NaNoWriMo to get them to a place where they can tell whatever stories they have inside them. I think that's a pretty neat thing to help do, so you should help do it too!
All the monies that I'm sponsored go straight to the OLL, but if you're of a mind to get yourself some nifty swag, you can also check out their shop!
