Welcome to my fundraising page for Jones Valley Teaching Farm! Please help me support Jones Valley in their mission to make a our community a healthier place.

This is a defining time for diet-related health issues in our state and our country. Health studies are beginning to link childhood obesity to not only the early onset of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, but also low self-esteem, depression and poor performance in school. Hands-on nutrition and science education have never been more critical.

But here’s something really great: this year, Birmingham's Protective Life Corporation has pledged to match every dollar donated to Jones Valley, up to $50,000. So when we raise $50,000, they’ll donate $50,000. That’s $100,000 to help Jones Valley educate Birmingham students.

Whether Jones Valley is educating K-8 students on The Farm or working with educators to develop science kits for hands-on learning in the classroom, every dollar invested goes directly to Jones Valley's educational efforts. Your donation is more than just a charitable contribution; it’s an investment in the future of our city.

A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated, as is helping me spread the word about this campaign. Please let people know how you and I are making a difference through Facebook, Twitter, email—every which way you can.

Thank you for your investment in Jones Valley Teaching Farm!

Kate Darden - Whoop, whoop! From my first donor, yet another generous investment in a dedicated group of professionals who are working for generational change rather than glory and bonuses (like moi). I cannot thank you enough for your support of this mission. As soon as I get the date and line-up for Freshworks festival (foodtrucks and some seriously big name acts this year) I will let you know. I'll be working a beer tent and there will be a HUGE cold one waiting for you.

Kate Darden - Ann-Thank you so much for this investment in JVTF. The team at JVTF is a city treasure, so dedicated to their mission, and excellence for children. If you are exposed to fresh food when you are young it will always be in your food language. You've be surprised how many kids don't know that food GROWS. JVTF is driven to create generational change that will improve the health of Birmingham's kids, and working hard to scale their programs to other areas with expertly created program materials and t

Kate Darden - Alison, We're going to be ready for your little boy and his classmates. He's so lucky to have educated parents that will provide healthy choices for him. JVTF is here for those in our community who may not be so fortunate. Kids are fascinated by figuring out what grows out of the ground and what grows from trees--knowledge you or I might take for granted. You would be tickled by kids eating raw spinach or a ripe tomato in the field. We have generational change to make and the team at JVTF is foc

"What a great program, Kate. b"
Donated $25.00 .
Kate Darden
Kate Darden - Susan, JVTF is the answer to ring dings and ho hos. Seriously, kids whose parents live in food deserts (i.e. grocery shop at convenience stores) get a chance to see where food comes from, harvest fresh produce, do some field taste-testing, with a hands-on cooking lesson to boot. We've got a pilot where fifth graders are running a farmer's market at their school and routinely selling out. Science teachers work with us each summer to develop kits and curriculum to expand the footprint of our teac

Kate Darden - You are an angel just like the beautiful blue one hanging on our tree. Thank you so much for investing in the team of educators at JVTF. They are working diligently to develop excellent curriculum and a way to scale the mission to more schools, teachers and kids. If you need help making the case at Cherokee Bend please let me know! With gratitude, KDD

Donated $25 .

Kate Darden - Thank you so very much Beth. You would be so encouraged at the impact the educators are having-more teachers, schools and students participating than ever. They are developing more curriculum that has the chance to reach beyond our state--all the way to Chattonooga! If you ever want to come visit, we would have a lot of fun. With Gratitude, Kate

Kate Darden
Kate Darden - Amanda, I appreciate your support and investment so much. The Jones Valley team works smart and hard to give under served kids a chance to experience what we are so fortunate to have around our corner with Oak Street, Pepper Place and Freshfully deliveries. Can you imagine living in a food desert, having a convenience store as your only grocery store? No fresh food. Christiana Roussel, also on our board has been working to get Crestline classes down to the farm, but so far we still take field tr

Kate Darden - Claire, Thank you so very much for your generous investment (that instantly doubled).I'm so excited about what is happening at Jones Valley under incredible leadership. The educators are working tirelessly on continuously developing curriculum that meets or exceeds state criteria for STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering and Math) education. The organization is more relevant than ever because of their laser focus. We are more quickly moving ideas into pilot programs with the help of teachers tha
