“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.”

-Marian Wright Edelman

Is a classroom more than just a learning environment?

Like so many other young Americans, I grew up in a community where having the access to quality education and an outlet for expression was never in question. I believe every mind should have the same great fortune.

A classroom is more than just a learning environment; it is a platform of empowerment that impacts the lives of young minds and communities for a lifetime. My experiences as both a student and a teacher have proven that the classroom is where the journey of potential and engagement in the community begins.

In September 2013, I am going to Moshi, Tanzania where I will live with the community for three months and help to improve quality education at St. Timothy’s school. I am fundraising $20,000 to complete the construction of two classrooms and a computer lab, which will help connect them with the rest of the world and invaluable resources. The project will impact the lives of 300+ students and the entire community for generations to come.

I believe the future is a journey that evolves through young, talented individuals. Join me in unlocking and nurturing their potential in the classroom, and give the children of St. Timothy’s the opportunity to shape the future of their community. This is your chance to make an immediate impact in someone else’s life that will create a life of infinite possibilities.
