Welcome!

A little bit about me:

I believe that every single person is significant. Every person is capable. Growing up miles below the poverty line and without parental stability, the odds that I would successfully pursue higher education and break the cycle of poverty were next to impossible. I graduated from UC Davis with honors, and with the knowledge that everyone can achieve their dreams given resources and encouragement. In turn, they give back much more. People need a hand up--not a handout. My path was made possible by guidance and investment in me and in my future, and not by welfare. Because of this, I am dedicated to connecting others with the resources they need to reach their potential.

A little bit about the organization:

Mama Hope is committed to responsibly meeting community challenges with community-based ideas and resources. We've partnered with the Kenyan non-profit Our Lady of Perpetual Support. OLPS provides comprehensive care and outreach for the entire spectrum of effects caused by HIV/AIDS in the Chiga, Kisumu community and has been a partner since 2008.Together we want to ensure the long-term health and wellness of the Kisumu community by supporting the Rita Rose garden and farm.

A little bit about the project:

This farm has incredible potential. More than 90 women care for the garden. They also care for orphans and vulnerable children in addition to their own families. The food grown supplements the nutrition of the patients at the HIV/AIDS clinic, of the caretakers, and of their families. The garden also serves as a demonstration and training center. While in Kenya, I’ll be working on improving crop yields, standardizing honey production, scaling up training on drip irrigation and distributing kitchen garden kits, restocking fish ponds and investing in income generating activities. The farm can sustain itself, please help us do it.

A big bit about you:

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Winston Churchill

Every single dollar you donate goes straight to the project. I know it's not always easy to give money—it’s a struggle out there! But I can guarantee that you would never regret doing so--the impact will be life changing for generations to come. The best way you can help is to donate money. I will be in Kisumu delivering your contribution. You can also help by sharing this page with your friends, family, and coworkers or by helping me throw a fundraising event.
