Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page!

Please help me support Jeans 4 Justice by making a donation through my page. The cause that this organization supports, the prevention of sexual violence through education programs focused on college and high school age students, is a cause that is close to my heart, and I truly want to help them in their efforts.

Jeans 4 Justice is providing half marathon training to me through their Justice in Motion program, and in exchange I am raising money on their behalf and plan to run the Rock & Roll Half Marathon on June 5th, 2011 in a future half marathon once my hip has healed in their honor and with their support. Justice In Motion is a way for us to empower ourselves to take a stand, to make a statement and to unite together to make a difference.

Why Jeans 4 Justice?

Jeans 4 Justice is a non-profit organization that develops, funds and implements creative campaigns and cutting-edge education programs using art and fashion to decrease the prevalence of sexual assault.  Their creative approach to education and fundraising inspires young people, who may normally feel uncomfortable with this touchy and personal subject matter, to get involved. To quote their webpage:

The name Jeans 4 Justice comes from a grassroots campaign inspired by a 1999 case in Italian High Court in which a rape conviction was overturned because the victim was wearing jeans. The court concluded,“It is common knowledge…that jeans cannot even be partly removed without the effective help of the person wearing them…and it is impossible if the victim is struggling with all her might.”

Jeans 4 Justice focuses on college and high school age students as 1 in 4 women and 1 in 33 men in this age group are victims of attempted or completed rape.  Unfortunately many more cases go unreported and most likely someone close to you has been affected.

I hope you will join me in supporting this wonderful organization by making a donation. Even if you can only afford a very small donation, it will still be greatly appreciated, and help me towards my fundraising goal. The donation process is fast, easy and secure. Thanks so much for your support... and please send this page to any friends you think might also be interested in supporting this cause!
