The 2012 Paddle 4 Cancer, presented by Subaru, will take place September 1 in Portland, Oregon. Set in the heart of the city on the Willamette River, with stunning Mt. Hood as the backdrop, the 2012 Paddle 4 Cancer event is the first large-scale all paddle event in Portland. SUP, Prone, OC... all welcome!

Funds raised at Paddle 4 Cancer will benefit Athletes for Cancer's Survivorship Program, which you can view in the video above. Individuals can fundraise for the event and the cause ON THIS PAGE and are not required to race or participate in actual event-day activities. This event is open to ALL levels of paddlers.  Anyone can DONATE NOW.  

Registered Events: All athletes must register to participate in the paddling events. Online registration closes Friday at noon. Day-of registration is available, but increases by $5.

ALL ATHLETES that register for 2 or more events get great swag including Dakine backpacks and Paddle 4 Cancer t-shirts! And, you do not need to be an athlete to get the swag bags! Just register and select "Event Supporter".

  • Beginner Standup Paddling (SUP) Clinic (FREE) and 1 mile non-competitive paddle
  • Individual Races:
    Short (3.5 miles) - Men's 12'6"
    Distance (About 7.5 miles), open to all paddling vessels -- SUP, Prone, Kayak, OC 1
  • 4-Person Team Standup Paddling (SUP) Relay
  • Full Contact Standup Paddling (SUP) Contest - So fun!!

Athletes can register for one, two, or three events above.

Standup Paddling Athlete Requirements/Recommendations:

  • PFDs are required for ALL paddlers in the beginner, short and distance races. Here's a good one if you're interested in purchasing one.
  • Leashes are optional but recommended for beginners

Board Rentals & Demos:

Paddlers (all levels) can rent boards from Gorge Performance 503-246-6646 or eNRG Kayaking 503-772-1122, both of which will deliver the board to the event and return it back to the shop at the end of the day for you. Both of these shops are supporters of Paddle 4 Cancer, donating funds raised from board rentals back to Athletes 4 Cancer.

There will be demos available at the event, but with limited availability. To ensure you have a board to paddle for the day, please reserve a board package at one of the retail shops above.

Fundraise & Send someone to camp! 
You can also fundraise prior to Paddle for Cancer to help raise money for Athletes for Cancer's Koru Survivorship Program and send someone deeply impacted by cancer to camp.
