Whether you're an avid trail runner looking to push your limits on a Mountain 10k, or a first time participant that wants to summit one of San Diego's most scenic peaks at a casual pace, there's something for everyone.

   

Race & Activity Descriptions: 

7:00 am: Day of race Registration - Outdoor Outreach information desk

8:00 am: Reach The Peak - Set your personal goal for summiting Black Mountain on a Mountain 5k. Simply follow the arrows to one of San Diego's most scenic peaks. the total distance for this Trail Challenge is about 4 miles with 900 ft. of climbing. 

8:00 am: Double The Peak - Bump it up a notch and tag the summit twice, on this Mountain 10k. Participants will complete a total distance of about 8 miles with 1800 ft. of climbing!

8:00 am: Navigation Adventure Course - Particpants will visit a series of checkpoints to solve clues to reveal other checkpoints and puzzles.  You'll certainly feel the burn, both in your legs and brain, on this navigation skills course! 

8:30 am: Duo Dash Relay -Grab a partner and share the fun on this short trail run, with challenging tasks along the way. Approx 2 miles, and 2 top secret tasks.

9:00 am: Mountain Festival There will be plenty of fun and entertainment, including live music from The Big Decisions, Kids' Activities Zone, Recovery Yoga Sessions and Rock Climbing Skills Clinics with Mesa Rim, Stone Brewery beer garden and catered BBQ lunch from Islands Restaurants. We also have lots of great prizes including a brand new Novara Matador 29er mountain bike from REI!

9:30AM/10:00 am: "Quick n' Dirty' MTB - The Reach the Peak MTB course is a return to the popular Q n’ D multi-lap short course format. The 2.7 mile loop is fully packed with chunky climbs, descents, singletrack, and fast fireroads sure to test the all around skills of the competitors. Kids Race starts at 9:30AM.

The beginner classes will compete on the shorter, less technical, 1.3 mile Duo Dash loop.

 

Two Ways To Participate at this year's event:

1. If you are participating in any of the Trail Challenge activities please proceed with creating your RTP fundraising page, by clicking the green "Become a Fundraiser" button above.  Once you choose your race option, fundraise and acheive the $35 minimum fundraising goal, you'll receive your event ticket by email which includes both your race entry and access to Mountain Festival. Children under 5 years old are free!

2. If you, or any family member or friend want to purchase a ticket to enjoy the Mountain Festival activities ONLY (Beer Garden, Islands Restaurant BBQ Lunch, Live Music, Kids' Activities area and Climbing Pinnacle), then click on the button below to purchase your Mountain Festival Only ticket.
