Lifestyle + Charity Magazine is the Go-To Source for Philanthropic Brands, Discoveries and Inspiration

The world seems to be made up of success, beauty, entertainment, and joy, versus poverty, disaster, disease, and sorrow. Lifestyle + Charity Magazine is bridging the gap. We are generating a lifestyle in which people are encouraged to pursue their dreams and help others at the same time.

Founded by sisters, Elena and Rachael Baxter, Lifestyle + Charity Magazine began in March of 2010, while residing in a semi-refurbished basement with pipes running on the ceiling in New Jersey. During the Winter of 2009 & 2010, we had volunteered with a domestic anti-sex trafficking organization. As we learned about the harsh realities of young girls and boys being abducted right in our backyards, we knew something had to change in this broken world.

After attending New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for a friend on a last minute request and experiencing the convention and artistry backstage, another fire had ignited in us. We went home that night asking ourselves, how do we combine our love for serving people that need our help and our love for art, beauty, and life itself? Therefore, out of pure fascination of the raw talents of our fellow mankind and seeing the growing desperation of humanity, Lifestyle + Charity Magazine was born.

Since the inception of Lifestyle + Charity Magazine in 2010 we have successfully launched over 6 media publications, as well as a growing website, giving a platform to over 2,000 socially conscious businesses and brands, and over 5,000 charities.

One of our most dear achievements was our first L+C Magazine party, Give a Gift Party to support GEMS: Girls, educational and mentoring services (GEMS), the only organization in New York State specifically designed to serve girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. Rather than charge a ticket fee to enter the party, we had our guests bring a care package for the organization as they were running low in supplies for their girls. We had over 100 people attend, and mounds of care packages for the girls came in through event attendees, local businesses and churches. It was an absolute honor to be supporting such a noble cause.

Since then, we have held six other L+C Magazine parties, partnering with organizations such as City Harvest, Scleroderma Foundation, and more. Each has been very special to us. As a whole, our team has covered over 200 charitable events in New York City alone, for organizations such as Charity: Water, Room to Read, Skin Cancer Foundation, One Hope Many Homes, and others.

The real achievement we believe is how building this magazine has changed us. We have opportunities to meet some of the most hard working, passionate, inspirational people in the world, whether they are part of an international charity, or one in their local community. These people are giving their lives to serving others, and creating a more beautiful world out of tragedy, and their servitude, selflessness, and humility is infectious.

Challenge, joy, sacrifice, fear, obstacle, development. These few words describe the 2.5 year journey that we’ve set our hearts upon. We knew a glamorous road it would not be, but a road worth traveling nonetheless. We decided then and attest to it today – if we inspired just one person, then we have succeeded.

Two and a half years later, we are not the same people. Every page overlaps with our hearts and is marked by our desires, memories, heartaches, and inspirations. The motivation is an alliance between love, life, thrill, people, and everything in between. To us, to live, is to love.
