Motley Zoo Animal Rescue Raises Funds For ‘Tour Gear’ Bags

Motley Zoo Animal rescue exists to support the shelters and community by taking animals out of the overflowing shelter system, and places them in loving foster homes – which not only allows the animals more one on one time, attention, and care, but allows for more animals in need to be served.
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a foster based, no-kill, 501c3 non-profit animal rescue organization. They treat their pets like rockstars, and rely on loving families to host a pet until a permanent home is found, as well as on the generosity of the community to fund their mission of saving lives and increasing spay and neuter advocacy. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue and Groupon Grassroots (http://grassroots.groupon.com), the philanthropic arm of Groupon, launched a campaign to raise funds to provide foster pets in need with necessary supplies. The “Tour Gear” campaign was available for one week.
Utilizing Groupon Grassroots’ collective action model, Groupon subscribers pledged support for the “Tour Gear” initiative in increments of $7, with each $14 total providing one “Tour Gear” bag filled with necessities for MZar’s families and pets. The Tour Gear bags greatly increase the efficiency involved in placing pets in fosters’ homes by providing a ready-to-go bag full of gear for each “rockstar” adoptable pet. The bags are customized for cats or dogs and include the reusable basics of donated beds/towels/blankets and bowls, as well as the new consumable necessities (funded from this initiative) that tour along with the pet. The foster families use what they need during the pets’ stay, and when the pets finds a home, the bag, the pets’ own supplies, food, and favorite toys will provide a welcoming “new pet parent” starter kit. This reduces the stress on the animals and the new families, so they can all enjoy their new lives together.
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue strives to make the act of fostering and volunteering both rewarding and enjoyable for humans and pets. The Tour Gear bag ensures that each pet has everything they need for their new lives outside of the shelter and beyond their former abandonment. MZar can assist adoptive families not only with the support they offer, but also with supplies each pet knows and loves. MZar needed to reach a tipping point of 25 bags, but instead, in total, 364 “Tour Gear” bags were provided through this highly successful campaign. Mzar is always first to try to utilize social networking, collaboration, and ingenuity to increase awareness and funding for their pets in need. This is just one example of the success that can be achieved by a charity that never stops trying, and never believes any goal is too big or impossible.
Next up: MZar has been selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, a major philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is giving 100 cars to 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days. MZar was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide. MZar will be up for consideration on Tuesday, June 12th from 7am to 9pm PST- the public will vote on Facebook to determine the charity most worthy of the new vehicle. MZar rocks- and hopefully they can keep on rollin’ in a new Toyota!
