The Sexiest Charity Work You Can Ever Do

The Undie Run works to mobilize and empower college students to creatively be seen, be heard, and make a difference; and have an incredibly fun time while doing it! The Undie Run drives awareness for multiple causes & all monetary and clothing donations go to a University’s local charity partner.

“Charity work can sometimes be boring. You know it. I know it. I spend a large portion of my free time doing volunteer work; however, if I’m not passionate about the work, it’s hard not to imagine myself relaxing in my underwear instead of scrubbing inner city dumpsters on a Sunday afternoon. But guess what I just found out: relaxing in your underwear IS charity! (Seriously, though.) Behold, Undie Run! All around the nation, college students are running, half-naked for charity.” – Alexandra Govere from MTV act

If in the past few years you’ve turned on your T.V. to see a news story about college kids running around campus in their underwear, well then you likely know about the Undie Run. Declared by ‘MTV act’ as ‘THE SEXIEST CHARITY WORK YOU CAN EVER DO!’ and rated by CoED Magazine as the ‘#1 University Sanctioned Event,’ the Undie Run is a collegiate charity challenge that drives awareness for multiple causes, with all clothing and monetary donations going to a University’s local charity partner. The Undie Run is a small philanthropic group who decided that charity does not have to be stuffy & boring, but can and should be sexy & fun; thus, they launched Undie Run in 2006 at SDSU, and have grown to 50+ college campuses nationwide. For a University’s charitable efforts, they provide students an end-of-school-year festival complete with an Undie Run–where students take off their clothes, donate them to charity, and then run together through campus in their underwear celebrating the greatest night of college in their life.

But that’s not the end of the story, the University’s compete to see who can donate the most clothing, with the winner getting a 12’ bronze statue of a male & female Undie Runner & the title of Undie Run Champion. Big corporate sponsors have stepped in, like AXE in 2010 & Virgin Mobile in 2011, to help Undie Run spread their cause across the nation. And it seems as though the Undie Run will never stop growing. Almost 150,000 students participated in 2012, raising over 50,000lbs of clothing. Not to mention Undie Run generated over 80 million media impressions for their cause.

Check out some of the catch phrases that have been used to describe the Undie Run: “Philanthropy just got a whole lot sexier” “Half-naked humanitarians” “The best thing to happen on any quad, ever” “Good Samaritans gone wild” “For coeds who hate clothes and love charity” “Epic” “Giving the shirt off your back has a new meaning” “What could possibly be better?” Ryan Tisinger, Co-Founder of the Undie Run says they have HUGE plans for Undie Run in 2013 and are turning each event into a fundraiser. The other details are top secret, Ryan says, but contends that with what Undie Run has planned, and who is involved, every college student in America will likely participate. Ryan also came up with what he calls an Undie Proverb which is awesome so I’ll leave you with that: “Go the extra mile. It’s never crowded… Unless you’re at the Undie Run’
