About Movember
The Movember foundation is registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that runs the global men's health initiative, Movember.
Each year, Movember, the month formerly known as November, is responsible for the sprouting of thousands of Mo's (Australian slang for moustache, where the movement began) on men's faces around the world, raising vital awareness and funds for men's health, specifically for cancer affecting men.
Men who grow moustaches for the month of Movember, called Mo Bros, become walking, talking billboards for the cause, raising awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men's health. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by getting friends and family to donate to their Mo-growing efforts.
The Rules are Simple
1. Shave your face!
2. Create a fundraising page
3. Set a fundraising goal
4. Begin growing your own "little but of luxury" (a.k.a. your awesome 'stache)
5. Tell your friends and family, and start raising money by sending them the link to your fundraising page, its easy!
6. People can donate to a.) Raise money for the cause or b.) to help you reach your goal so you can shave it already!
7. Shave on December 1st (or after the Movember Gala taking place at Double Duece in the Gaslamp)
The Result
The money raised as a result of Movember is channeled by our beneficiary partners into a number of world class and innovative research, support, education, and awareness initiatives. Movember funds raised in the United States benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. Full details ofMovember-funded outcomes can be found here. It is our hopethat as we grow, so too will the understanding and awareness around men's health.
